It is the first peer-reviewed journal in Pangasinan studies to be published annually or biannually covering various disciplines in Pangasinan studies: history, linguistics, archaeology, economics, politics, agriculture, education, anthropology, folklore, literature, ethnomedicine, ethnoscience, ethnomusicology, meteorology, philosophy, theater and cinema, and other allied academic areas.

Donong na Anacbanua in Pangasinan language means “wisdom or knowledge of the children of the land”. In the dictionary by Fr. Lorenzo Fernandez Cosgaya (1865), “donong” means “bondad, afabilidad, de buena índole o condición; ciencia, sabiduría” or “kindness, affability, of good nature or condition; science, wisdom” while “anacbanua” means the indigenous political, economic and cultural elite of the province. Literally, it means those who are original settlers of the land, or its children.

This journal aims to recover Pangasinan indigenous knowledges, study and examine them and disseminate studies on Pangasinan people, culture and civilization as well as serve as a platform for other ethnic groups particularly the Southern Cordilleran tribes (Ilongot, Ibaloi, etc.) and other North Luzon cultures but it will also devote one article for other Philippine regional/ethnic studies while allotting one article dealing with Southeast Asia, Asia or the world. It will have a literary section in Pangasinan and other Southern Cordilleran and Central Cordilleran languages – anlong (poem), antikey a tongtong (short story) and salaysay (essay).
It accepts unpublished research articles with a minimum of 8,000 words but not more than 15,000 words in Pangasinan, English and Spanish (and other languages accompanied by their translations) with abstracts in Spanish, English and Pangasinan in the following format: Times New Roman 12 font, double space, using any reference system – Turabian, MLA, APA, Harvard etc. – as long as it is consistent all throughout the manuscript. Prospective author needs to delete all data that could identify them. Spelling is based on Philippine English, for Pangasinan, the recent orthography with some modifications (i.e., do not put apostrophe for contracted words), while for Spanish, it follows the orthographic guidelines of the Real Academia Española. As soon as a manuscript is received, a receipt will be issued and its editor will decide if it will push through to the refereeing process and this will take only a week or two. If it is favorable, the manuscript will be reviewed by two anonymous scholars who will give their verdict of acceptance or rejection within a month or two along with their suggestions to improve it. If it is accepted with major or minor revision, the author needs to submit the revised manuscript within the specified time as indicated by the editor. The author should disclose all funding they had received.

Book reviews are accepted either solicited or unsolicited as long as it is limited to 1,000 words. Review essays can contain as much as 3,000 words. This journal accepts books to be reviewed from publishers worldwide, books that are within the theme and scope of this publication.
Submission Deadline: 1 December 2023 for the inaugural issue but submissions for later issues remain open all-year round without definite date.
